But he's not obsessed with you. Or witches. And yes, I know for a fact witches and fairies are separate in his mind. And he doesn't believe you have anything to do with fairies, he's just wary about YOU investigating HIM.

The thing is, the people know what he's like. His mother thinks he's crazy. The people he works with thinks he's crazy. The kids think he's crazy. They ALL KNOW IT. Though they think it's just the believing in fairy business and that that explains the rest of his behavior to them. The people here AREN'T normal.
