[Rl with Heiji- About teasing and Kendo]

He told him that he was going to arrive before of the kendo's match didn't him? A day before was maybe too much, but the way Heiji teased him on their last conversation was too much to resist. He parked his car near to Hattori's house and walked the rest of the way, holding a bag with his computer and a small blue box with a bow on it.

Hakuba stopped in front of the other detective's house and took out his phone, waiting patiently until Heiji took it.

"You didn't left the window open, Heiji-kun."

The change of attitude was so sudden that Heiji leaned back, thrown off track. "L-lucky one?"

Hakuba just nodded. "Yes, the lucky one. Toyama-san? Or Kuroba? Kuroba looks a bit like Kudo after all."

Heiji automatically ignored the jibe about Kazuha and focused on the thought that confused him.

"Kuroba looks nothin' like Kudo." He argued.

Hakuba rolled his eyes.

"He is, don't ignore the evidence."

Heiji frowned harder and leaned back. "I've spent extended amounts of time with th' both of em. They don't look alike."

Hakuba sighed, frustrated "Do you need a puppet show? You can't see it because you know Kudo too much and their personality are nothing alike."

"Yer crazy." Heiji muttered, insulted. If they looked so much alike, how would he not be able to see it? Okita looked like Kudo. Scarily so. Kaito definitely did not.

Hakuba rolled his eyes, no point on talking about all this the whole night.

"Fine, no. Changing the subject, are you sure it's not a problem if I stay?"

Heiji shook his head, starting to wonder that himself.

"Nah, s'not a problem at all."

"uhm well..thanks then."

"I'll, uh, got tell mom that yer here then."

He moved to stand up, not really sure what else to say now.

Hakuba was at a loss of words himself. He was expecting to spent the night on a hotel and was made to the idea.

"Are you sure she's not going to ask questions? How I get to your room, for example"

Heiji grinned broadly and waved his hand in the air. "Not to worry. That's just where the truth comes in: Ya came up while both of em were busy and they didn't see ya."

He turned for the door.

"Fine then if you are so sure.." Hakuba started, and stood up when Heiji moved away and caught his wrist. "Wait, are you just going to tell them? I might present myself at least, it's the right thing to do."

Heiji glanced down at his wrist and a flash of hesitation crossed his face before he looked up. His mother would be all over Hakuba in a heartbeat. This'd be two new friends in less than a week that she met.

Not to mention he was a 'Hakuba'. That would just add his father into the mix and, oh hell.

"Yah sure." He agreed, not sure how he'd be able to get out of this one. "I can give ya a bit of a tour as well."

Hakuba could tell by Hattori's face that 'yah sure' was not relally what he was thinking, but he went with it.

"Thanks." He smiled, still holding his wrist.

Heiji's smile seemed a tiny bit strained as he nodded and led the way out of the room and to the stairs. By the sounds of things, his mother was in the kitchen and his father in the office.

Mother first, he decided. Best to get it over with.

It wasn't as bad as Hakuba imagined. But that was probably his family fault, after his cold mother and his crazy father, he had the tendency to think that everyone else's family was like that.

"It was nice to meet your parent, Heiji." he replied, meaning it.
