RL with Kaito- Dealing with the Damage control (again)
Hakuba wasn't quite sure how this game was going to be played. He wasn’t even sure about Kuroba coming to his house to talk about the lates days. It was a sensation he should be used to, the uncertainty but....no.
Sort of like a heist, but without the calling card to warn him in advance. It seemed like a great deal of his time was spent waiting for Kuroba-Kid, really. Waiting for a heist notice of the Phantom Thief, waiting for the day of the heist, waiting for his appearance. Waiting for another prank of Kuroba, another smart reply, another trick..
Hakuba was currently curled up on a couch in the upstairs reading room, staring at the book in his hands but no reading it, debating on if he should call Kuroba to be sure that he was going to come or not. Hakuba waited, giving up all pretence of reading the book.
He had very little qualms about admitting that he was a bit of a control freak. But sometimes you had to give up some control to gain control. Damn, he hate not to know.

DUN DI DUN!! what's Hakuba doing? aaah surprise!
Hee...
he's not that bad....at least not now XD
“I noticed the cringe. I wouldn’t be any good at my job If I didn’t.” Hakuba wonders why he always say” his job” when he was talking about he noticing things. It was more like a way of life, really.
“They’re just aspirins. Better than paracetamol, because unlike it, aspirin is a very effective anti-inflammatory agent.”
LULZ. Oh Hakuba...
Then it hit him, and he almost dropped the items in surprise. His shoulder. Of course... as if that would have escaped the perceptive detective's attention. "Shit!" Panic flooded Kaito's brain-- outwardly, however, he seemed as calm as ever.
"What makes you think I need aspirin?" he grumbled. Nevertheless, he shoved two pills in his mouth and downed them with water, before shoving the now empty glass back into Hakuba's hands. "Thanks," he grumbled under his breath. It may have sounded gruff, but it was about as sincere as Kaito could force himself to get with his rival.
Yeah, he’s really a softy in the heart :3 …really deep, but he is.
“You’re insulting my intellect here Kuroba.” Hakuba raised his eyebrows and gave him another plane look. “Welcome.”
Hakuba left the empty glass in the table next to the book and sat on the couch again. “We will discuss about your magic trick gone wrong, as Aoko said, and the latest heist of KID gone wrong other time…we were going to talk about the best for Nakamori, right?”
He is XP
After a minute of complete silence, Kaito sighed heavily and scratched his head. "What's best for Aoko is..." he began, trying his hardest to find the right words. In the end, he opted for simplicity. "Not me."
He just knows to choose his battles ^^
“Why?”
But of course. He's no idiot, after all.
Neither is Kaito~
“I kno…I think I know, that maybe that’s not a possibility now. But eventually. ..she will be waiting for you. ” Hakuba pulled his mind to of the 'dangerous thoughts' zone. He couldn’t help himself. “If you don’t, someone will make you stop. And both know that I'm not talking about myself, or Nakamori-keibu for what maters.”
'Course not
He shook his head and laughed to himself a bit more, before his snickers turned into sighs. "Maybe," he said, raising his hands and putting them behind his head, "That's why she doesn't have to wait on me. Why she shouldn't wait on me. You know." He was still smiling, although there was something completely different in it this time.
((Meee tooo >.>))
The game is up!
It took Hakuba a moment to remember why he got involved in all this madness. He was confident in his relationship with the Kaitou Kid, such as it was. He enjoyed the intellectual challenges, the games and the heist but….there’s now that dark shadow over them, and he didn’t like it.
His relationship with the Kid's other side however... 'Nonexistent' came to mind. He saw Kuroba practically every day in the classroom, but they rarely interacted other than various taunts, usually about intelligance, the lack there of or the Kaitou Kid. As far as he could figure, the darker haired boy had split his personality, or mind, into two separate beings. There was Kuroba and then there was the Kid. Except for when they crossed over, one personality bleeding slightly into the other. Like now. And that was affecting Aoko too. So if they wanted to resolve the problems with her, first they need to end some unfinished things.
“It doesn’t have to be this way. I been…” Hakuba stopped. Even if there was still absolutely no question in his mind that Kuroba was the Kid and Kid was Kuroba, they were playing a game now, and that was crossing the line. He will have to play a bit more then. “Hypothetically speaking..If I been doing some research about some people who usually tried to kill some random thief, and if I, hypothetically speaking, had been discovered some information like, dunno, a complete list of jewels who could they been looking for…you think that, hypothetically, you will know now to contact that random thief to give him the list?. Hypothetically speaking, of course.
Re: The game is up!
His head shot up again, his expression once again defaulting to poker face, once Hakuba mentioned this 'list.' So he wanted to play the hypothetical game, did he? Kaito was walking on thin ice, one slip meant he would be spilling his entire secret to Hakuba. He'd have to tread carefully. He hesitated for a bit, but continued slowly, "Hypothetically speaking of course, how did you create such a list, if you aren't even sure what kind of gem Kaitou Kid is hypothetically looking for?"
Re: The game is up!
"I made a lot of research and I analyzed a lot of things. About the heists, the stolen jewels, and I had an special interest in old case involving a jewel called blue birthday.” Hakuba’s grin makes him look evil.
“First it looked like the evil guys ran away that time, but some months ago Nakamori-keibu caught one men of the gang…. I can be very persuasive in the interrogatories.” The young detective looked serious again and frowned . “The man was found died in his jail no much after that. It looked like a suicide but I know better. But!, I don’t want to bore you." He commented simply in a philosophical tone.
“There’s still…some big hole on the research thought. I have the name of a certain jewel, but I don’t know why Pandora is that much important to them.”
Aaaaand we're back to playing denial!
He tossed all three ball high into the air, where they seemed to disappear without a trace. "You'd have to ask Kid about this... what's it called? Pandora. I don't know anything about it." He grinned. "But it sounds like something that has supernatural powers. You know, magic? Perhaps something like immortality?" He said all of this rather pointedly. "Although that's probably pretty ridiculous." He eventually added, faux innocence practically radiating from his words. "And you really created a list of all jewels that could possibly be Pandora?"
LIES! all LIES!
“Even if is Aoko you must be respectful towards women. Even more if the woman in question is your love interest. And I’m always a busy detective, criminals don’t have vacations.” Hakuba looked at the coloured balls again. He was still suspicious about them.
“I feel like talking to someone about it. I can’t tell my father or Nakamori-Keibu about this. It’s not like I don’t trust them, it’s just…it looks dangerous. You don’t give a damn about me, so you look like the best person to talk about that.”
Hakuba eyebrows went up when the balls disappeared suddenly. He murmured something about Kaito being a smartass…
“Sure, I just have to ask Kid. In the middle of a heist or something, I can use a megaphone. Oh but first I have to grope him to be sure that he’s a man…Don’t look at me like that. Forget what I said.” Hakuba grumped.
“Magic? Immortality? There’s no such thing as real magic Kuroba. And if you know anything about mythology you should know that Pandora is the responsible of al the pain and sufferings of the human race.” Hakuba feels the beginning of a head ache.”yeah, that’s pretty ridiculous…. Ridiculous enough to be true. I will investigate that.”
He smiled slithly when he heard Kaito’s question
“I did…hypothetically.” Hakuba took the book of the table and threw it to Kaito. “Give the book a try, maybe you will learn something.”
(OOC: There’s a DVD in the middle of the book’s pages ^_~)
Pfffffffft! Of course not!
"Is there no such thing as magic?" Kaito asked, "You should get out more if you honestly believe that. Magic is very, very real. My magic isn't. Kid's magic isn't. But there are certain types of magic that are. And as for Pandora..." the magician flipped a card from his deck and tossed it in the air, and with a snap of his fingers it exploded and turned into one of the colored balls from earlier. He caught the ball and fiddled with it, before shoving it in his pocket. "I know what Pandora's Box is. I know what implications the name has." And I know how dangerous that jewel really is, he added mentally.
He wasn't quite expecting Hakuba to throw the book at him, so Kaito was forced to let out a surprised yelp as he just barely caught it. He stared at the book for a second, before shrugging. "Of course. Hypothetically. I'll hypothetically see if I can get this to Kid, although it'll probably just sit on my shelf and collect dust for the next few years."
YUUUUUUS because Kaito is an evilish thief
He supposed that he -should- feel morally obligated to be pointing and shouting 'He's the Kid!!I Instead of helping him. It's the Kaitou Kid! On the other hand, he had no proof what so ever that this was the case. Certainly he knew that Kuroba was the Kid and vice versa, but he was still in the same position he had been a year and a half ago. Knowing and lacking the evidence. Perhaps he was no longer quite the shining white champion of justice he had once thought he was. But then, Kid wasn't exactly a deep dark villain of evil either. And he was doing that for Aoko.Sure, he was..
He frowned at Kaito’s words.
“Saying that is like saying that Santa Claus really exists. Magic doesn't exist. Only tricks. Many magicians do not believe in supernatural occurrences. Paranormal. Pychokinesis. Telekinesis. Any thing that denotes the purported ability of the mind to influence matter, time, space, or energy by means outside the currently known laws of physics. I don't believe them, either. Until a scientific findings prove them to be true, they will remain false for me.” He said, his voice low and a bit on the rough side.
To say he was uncomfortable was an understatement. He didn’t like things that he can’t control, that’s why magic was such a hard thing to understand and believe.
“But...” He said calmly, keeping his own neutral mask up. "Even if they’re not true for me, I think that, in Pandora’s case, the possibility remains . When you have excluded the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth, right?"
>:3
Kaito reached into his pocket and pulled out one of the juggling balls. "Catch," he said, before tossing it to Hakuba. "You can have it. I don't need it." He grinned, a devious glint present in his expression. "This has been fun, Haku-baka, but I've got to run. Gotta catch a worldhopper after all." He made a movement, as if he was heading towards the door, but then stopped and turned to face Hakuba once more. "Hypothetically speaking, if I were Kid, which I'm not, then I'd quote this," he paused as he dug through his memory, trying to remember the words Maurice Leblanc had written down so long ago, "We may talk, shake hands, nod to each other, but the fence remains. You will always be Sherlock Holmes, the Detective, and I, Arsène Lupin, the Gentleman Burglar. So..." he hesitated, "Are you still going to try your hardest to catch Kid? Slap him in handcuffs? Throw him in jail? And all that fancy stuff?"
Lol. See? It’s true! *throw out her tonge* nyyyah!
“Thanks, Kuroba.”
The detective raised an eyebrow at the world-hop comment. He was leaving after all. Hakuba sighed internally. He would have an eye on Aoko the next days just to be sure she was alright. The first time Hakuba talked to her after the virus she managed to scare him to death with her smile.
Hakuba recognized the quote, it was from LeBlanc’s book Arsene Lupin vrs Sherlock Holmes: The blonde Phantom. How…adequate. He gave Hakuba a smiled, a sincere one.
"Hypothetically speaking then, if you were Kid, which I'm sure you are, even if I don’t have proof, then I'd say that yes, I will still try to catch you. But I will not use such at low techniques as blackmail or shooting at you because, I’m a gentleman detective as much you’re a gentleman thief. The fence remains, but we can talk, nod, and discuss about magic and jewels anytime you feel like do it.” A worried expression flittering across his face before a neutral mask was show again.
“Don’t kill yourself before I catch you.” He requested, hoping that he didn't sound too needy or concerned as he though he did.
He's just running because he's being a dumbass. He'll find his head and come back soon~
After all, one of the best thing about his job was the fact that he got to lead Hakuba on wild goose chase after wild goose chase. He didn't want that to change, not even if he and the pretentious detective were temporarily acting as allies.
The magician scoffed and reached for the doorknob. "How many times do I have to say it before it penetrates your obnoxiously thick skull?" he said, giving Hakuba an annoyed look, "I'm not Kid." And with that, he raised a hand and waved as he left. "See ya around, Haku-baka."
Mere seconds after he left, the colorful ball in Hakuba's hands exploded, and it suddenly began snowing. Indoors.
After all, Kaito couldn't leave without leaving Hakuba some sort of magical gift.
He better! Hakuba really don’t want to go to Andalasia because he’s scared of Nancy..LOL snow
Snow. It was snowing. In the room. Not outside. Inside the room.
”stupid magic tricks..:”
He murmured, removing the snowflakes out of his hair. He has more research to do.
