No, it's just a device.

Akako gave me a magic clock for my birthday, it never runs off of energy. I made some change to it and I placed hat as Doyle's heart.

I managed to find the perfect device for him to use as a never ending battery. Is placed on his chest, and without it Doyle didn't work. So I called it that.

I realized that it was magic, but you'd expect a clock that never runs out of energy to produce enough energy to keep itself running, not to keep anything even more complex up just the same.
...but I'm glad it does. I'm sure it's boring for him to run out of battery so quickly.
