First there was darkness and then a figure stood proud, his back to him, the silhouette framed by shadows. When he turned around the detective realized that he was looking at himself. His hands were totally covered with blood, it even reach his elbows.

The figure raised his head and slightly turned to look at the boy. A familiar grin saluted him, his own grin, but stained with madness. A pair of blue cold eyes shine with sadist glee. Those eyes burned Saguru’s soul, his fingers tightened, muscles up his arm tensing, and fear blinded his vision, his thoughts.

“You are too late..always late..”Said the cold eye version of him, a sweet expression on his features as they both looked down to the ground. Dead bodies were lying on a dirt floor, bloody and cold, some faceless, but most of them he could recognize as his family and friends. Empty eyes looked back at him. A bloody colored jewel was on the ground near a broken monocle and Issei’s glasses; Akako’s red hair was indistinguishable in the middle of a pool of blood. A solitary tease was resting on Tyki’s chest, two blond men next to him, their thorax ripped open…

Hakuba took a step back and a weight was pressed against him, as his other self was leaning on his back, whispering to his ear, an arm around his waist and a hand caressing his chin. It was cool against his flushed skin and sent welcomed shivers through his body.

“Look at them.” The vision changed and the corpse of his friend change to show the dead body of a blonde woman, a blue haired boy and a strange old man with an smile freezed in time wearing a funny hat.

“Don’t you feel better now? They will not hurt anybody else…not anymore.” Whispers echoed around him, telling him that day might be closer than he thought. The arms around him change, they become stronger, and dark skinned. Hakuba looks over his shoulder to met a pair of golden eyes and dark hair. “…It will be better if you just let it go…”

The arms tear his shirt open and when Hakuba winced on his dream the real one snapped his eyes open. Light cocooned him and blotted out any trace of sleep, the familiar view of the laboratory saluted him.

He felt asleep over the table again.

Hakuba stretched and rubbed the back of his neck, took a metal gadget from the table and started to work again. No, nothing unusual about his dreams.

He's a detective like you, right? One of your coworkers or something?

Yes he is a detective form Osaka. Detectives like us take cases alone, but we worked together on occasion.
