[Locked to Kaito/Kid, Naoto, Conan, Aoko, Issei...to Haibara's friends in short.]

Haibara's b-day it's today and I organized a small private party for her at home. Nothing too fancy because she doesn't enjoy those kind of parties, but I'm sure that she would like to you see all.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Our..problem, doesn't have to ruin your relationship with her. I don't want that.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want that, either. You must understand, Ai-kun is... very protective of you. She doesn't take kindly to those who hurt you, and she can hold a grudge for a very long time.

But... a lot of time has passed. Perhaps she's cooled off by now. In any case, I'll do my best not to provoke her ire.

...I need to pick up a gift for her. Perhaps you might offer a suggestion or two?

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I know that she is... I'm grateful for that. I'm sorry if she gave you a hard time. She still likes you and I'm sure that Ai would enjoy you being there.

maybe some sort of lab equpiment, a microscope or so.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
No, don't apologize. Everyone has... differences of opinion from time to time. But having arguments can make a relationship stronger, as long as both parties can work through their differences.

Hm... I suppose that would be appropriate. I think I'll bring another copy from Lois McMaster Bujold's The Miles Vorkosigan Saga. Ai-kun seems to appreciate science fiction more than she does most mystery novels.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
You only fight if yo really care, isn't it?

I don't think she likes detectives much, to be honest.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. Even very close friends have arguments from time to time. I mean, just look at Kaito and Aoko-chan! They argue like a married couple!

I'm pretty sure she just despises Sherlock Holmes because you and Conan-kun are obsessed with him.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
They are a married couple.

Ey, I'm completly innocent. Totally.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
They are, aren't they? Well, he still needs to get her a ring...

I think you could stand to broaden your horizons a bit. In fact, the mystery genre has crossed over with horror and even science fiction!

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I think he gave her one.

When did that happened and why no one told me about before?

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
An engagement ring, yes. That's a promise to get married. You're truly married when the bride and groom exchange wedding bands.

You were too busy reading "The Hound of the Baskervilles" to notice, I suppose. You should read "The Mountains of Mourning" by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's a science fiction whodunnit!

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-12 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
A matter of time.

Oh, silly me. I will do that.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-13 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm looking forward to that wedding invitation!

I gave a copy to Ai-kun, you can borrow it from her.

...It feels good, being able to talk and joke around as we did before.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Me..too, actually.

I will ask her.

Yes, it does.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'm really looking forward to Kaitou Kid's next heist, whenever that may be. It'll be good to work together on a case again, just like Holmes and Watson.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You still want to work with me?

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-16 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I do. We're partners, aren't we?

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-17 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we are.

I'm just not used to have a partner, I always worked alone.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-17 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
So did I. I wonder if maybe high school detectives tend to be loners by nature? Or maybe it's because we're so focused trying to establish our skills that we don't have time to look for a partner. Usually, the more detectives there are working together, the faster a case can be solved. Personally, I like the idea of having a partner.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Friends require too much time, time that we don't have.

Having a partner woudl be an interesting change.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
...While it's true that a detective's job can be time-consuming, sometimes you have to make time for the things that are truly important, like family and friends. I know that's something Dojima-san is working on right now.

It's important to have a partner to watch your back in dangerous situations. When it comes to the police force, the number one rule is: "Never leave your partner behind." I suppose that's the one disadvantage to being a private investigator... we usually work alone.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-18 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm aware of that, but I'm also used to not have them around, neither fmaily or friends.

It's a bit strange for me.

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I should think that you'd be used to having friends around by now, at least. You've been a member of this community for a few years, haven't you?

There are just as many examples of private investigators with partners as there are those without. For example, Sherlock Holmes had Dr. Watson, Eddie Valient had his brother, and Detective Stabler had Benson (who was a woman, by the way). Even my parents worked together to solve cases. My father used to say that he could think of no one better to have for a partner than his own wife.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Two years, 7 month and 21 days. I made friends, but a lot of them leave and forget about us too.

Your parents are probably the only not fictional people in those examples. But we can give it another try .

[identity profile] truthinfortune.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
A lot, but not all of them. Kaito is still here, as is Aoko-chan. But I think the important thing to remember is to cherish the time you have with your friends and loved ones, regardless of how long or short that time may be.

You're right. Perhaps we can start a new trend, then? Though Conan-kun and Hattori-san make a pretty good team, wouldn't you say?

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree.

Conan-kun it's a bit too young, don't you agree?
