Ey, this is Hakuba. Where are you two?

The weevil that was left in autopsy yesterday is just bones now. No flesh, no organs..I don't know how it happened it was a normal corpse 15 minutes ago. As normal as a dead alien's corpse can be anyway.

I think that something come through the Rift, the computers gone crazy and Myfanwy is in hysterics. Remember me who had the great idea of keep a Pteranodon as a pet? Nevermind.

I don't know what is it yet, I just saw a shadow. I'm locking the Hub to be sure it won't get away.

Most people don't, because the people who do run into them usually... well, you know.

Right, yes, dealing with them! What's the lighting like down there? The more lights you've got up and the better lit everywhere is, the better, it makes them easier to spot. More to the point, does this lockdown stop a TARDIS from getting in?
timey_wimey: (Yeeah that's just not right)

[personal profile] timey_wimey 2010-03-24 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully, only if they manage to get into that greenhouse of yours or something.

Thanks. Well, I guess it's better to know that than not to.

Yeah, about the lighting down here. There's kind of something about a secret underground base that makes everything pretty shadowy and generally poorly lit. But no, the lockdown doesn't stop the TARDIS from getting in. We'd have to trip the Time Lock for that kind of level of security, and I haven't taught Hakuba how to do that yet. Why, Doctor? What do you suggest doing?
timey_wimey: (Yeeah that's just not right)

[personal profile] timey_wimey 2010-03-24 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
Knowing is half the battle, usually.

You humans and your underground bases, you don't half make things more difficult for yourselves! And well... Vashta Nerada, Jack. There's no way around it, when you're up against that, you just run. The one time I ran into them I was able to negotiate with them a bit, but that can only get you so far, and it's a little more difficult when they don't have any way of talking to me this time round. I dunno, I could try and get them off-planet, back to the Library with their own kind, but the thing about planet Earth... there's a lot of meat here.
51stcentury: (explaining smile)

[personal profile] 51stcentury 2010-03-24 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps.

And hey! Usually an underground base is a lot safer and more secret than, let's say, a giant skyscraper. Not a wise decision on Torchwood One's place, in my opinion. And I don't know, isn't there some way that we could maybe get them here? Like, a flame thrower or something? If we could somehow attract them all to one place?

Hakuba rolled his eyes, but quickly looked around again to be sure that no shadow was moving. It was hard because the Hub was not exactly the most illuminated place in earth, even when ALL the lights on. He shook his head and looked worried at Jack.

"Nothing yet but who knows for sure. There's so many places where they can be hiding."

Jack took the meat from Ianto, stepping aside to start unwrapping it from its packaging. "Right, so. According to the Doctor, this thing is attracted to meat. So, we're going to use this as bait, while we have some other genius way of destroying the little bastards, alright? I'm thinking fire is our best bet, but we're going to need to make sure we get them all in one go. I'm not sure how smart they are--best not risk having to try the same thing twice."

Ianto nodded, turning to Hakuba. "What do you think? We were discussing it on the way up--it sounds like this is our best option. The only other one would be calling for help from the Doctor, but who knows whether he'll be able to get here in time, and then there'd still be the matter of the Vashta Nerada being on Earth in the Hub no less."

"I don't think it's a good idea to get more people here. And he's too important to get killed because of this." Not like their lives weren't important but the doctor was...well, the DOCTOR.

"I think I can built a container similar to that one Jack has with..uhm..that hand." he ended a bit insecure.

"Right, okay," Ianto said, turning to Hakuba. "Do you have all the supplies you would need to start building that here?" He moved to look in the medical bay. "There should be a bunch of tools in there. I moved them out yesterday while I was cleaning up the work-station, there should be enough light in there to get things done."

"Uh, Hakuba," Jack called out, standing very still. "You might want to get on that. Like, as fast as possible."

"We know that, Jack what are you getting--..." Ianto trailed off, looking down. "Jack. You have two shadows."

"Yeah, I know. So, like, now would really be good," Jack said, looking up at the two of them, urgency written all over his face. He made no move to get any closer, knowing that he just had moments until the Vashta Nerada singled on him and started their attack.

"Oh god..." Hakuba murmured in shock, but composed himself in a few seconds. "Hang in there, I will be as quick as possible." He adventures a glance to Ianto and squishes his arm to reassure him before to move down to the medical bay. He moved in a rush, but with an eye on his surrounding just in case the Vashta Nerada was split in more than one swarm.

Ianto stood frozen. He wasn't sure what to do. He knew that Jack could survive anything, but he also knew that every death, every injury, it hurt as much as it would on anyone else. Being able to come back from it was only a minor reassurance, in the long run. "Jack, I..."

"Ianto," Jack said firmly, "go help Hakuba. Go find some way to fix this. That's an order." His voice softens. "You know I'll be fine, it's you two that still need to worry about this. Now go."

Jack shut his eyes. He didn't need any more nightmares of the darkness coming to swallow him up, thank you, he'd rather not watch what happened. It was bad enough that he was claustrophobic because of the thousands of years underground, he didn't need to be scared of his own shadow too.

Ianto turned away and deliberately made himself go over to Hakuba, down to the medical bay, away from Jack. Orders were orders, which was the only thing that kept him going down the stairs when the screaming started.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hakuba was already working in the container by the time Ianto come near him, he tried to focus in his task, whatever to not think in small alien piranhas. Specially not think about those mentioned alien eating his friend alive. Even if Jack was immortal that had to hurt like a bitch.

"Ianto I need to.." He looked around, trying to find a remote control in the middle of the mess that was the table now."..think about a way to close the container without actually doing it manually so we don't go near it and..are you listening to me at all?"

Ianto was a bit pale. No, he hadn't been. Not really. He'd never really get used to hearing this sound, the sound of the man he loved dying. Even though he knew he'd come back, it wasn't really comforting in the moment.

He shook his head. "No, I'm sorry. We should..." he fished around for something to say. "I'm not sure that our idea will work anymore. I don't think they'll give up on him anytime soon. He's kind of a...all you can eat buffet. I mean, from what the Doctor said, he should be dead by now, but." The screaming continued. Obviously, Jack was very much still alive.

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Ianto..eh.." oh god,it's hart to try to focus and not think about what's happening to Jack, but they need to. Hakuba stopped, turning to face Ianto for a moment, his hands in his shoulders to have this attention.

"Ianto, listen I know it's hard, and he's suffering but we need to try this and we will find a way to get their attention." he squeezed Ianto's shoulders. "I can't do this quickly enough by myself and I need your help. so we can help Jack and help ourselves."

Ianto took in a deep breath and let it out shakily. "Yeah, sorry," he said. "It's just that... I don't think we're going to distract them away from him. I think we're going to have to come up with a different plan."

A horrible light-bulb went on in his head. "...we already have them all gathered in one spot," he said quietly. "They're all already on Jack. What if we...?"

Re: [action]

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Hakuba frowned slightly but nodded. "What is it? If there's a faster way to solve this we should do it." All to make Jack's pains top.
torchwoodteaboy: (regretful)

[personal profile] torchwoodteaboy 2010-03-28 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Well," Ianto said, with a shudder. He couldn't believe that he was actually suggesting this, but he just wants the screaming to stop. "I mean. All of the Vashta Nerada are in one place. All we'd have to do is take the flamethrower on them..." Jack would come back eventually. It would hurt like hell, but he'd understand. He might even be grateful for it. Still, it didn't make it any less of a terrible idea.

[action]

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-03-28 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"..." Hakuba paused, eyes wide. Ianto from all the people was suggesting to burn his lover alive? Even if jack could survive that woudl hurt so much. "We..should..ask him."
torchwoodteaboy: (sad eyes)

[action]

[personal profile] torchwoodteaboy 2010-03-28 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Ianto's eyes watered suspiciously. Now was really not the time, so he fought down his emotions. "If you want to ask him... I'm not sure that he'll be able to answer, what with..." he trailed off. Jack's voice sounded like one continuous scream. Obviously, his special healing abilities were the only things keeping him alive. The Vashta Nerada were literally eating him alive, and Ianto wasn't sure he even wanted to think about how that looked, let alone see it. "If it'd make you feel better about it, though, then." He made a motion in the direction of the main Hub area where they'd left Jack.

Oh yeah, it's all about extremes with you lot, isn't it? And what would you do with them once you've got them all into one place? Herd them into a pen?

[action]

[identity profile] clockmaster.livejournal.com 2010-03-29 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hakuba ran a hand through his hair. "If someone was going to do that to me, healing habitability or not, I woudl like to know..." He trailed off and bit his lip. More time they kept discussing this more he would suffer. "I will talk to him and I..will do it."

Not like he wanted, but he thought that Ianto doing that to Jack would hurt too much both men, taking in consideration their history together. "Can you find the fire thrower in the meantime?!

Set them on fire? Burn them to a crisp? They're essentially spores, right? However evil and ancient they may be, they shouldn't be invincible.

((Hopefully this works, because it's what they end up doing. xD;; ))
