By the time Hakuba managed to get up to the window, Heiji felt astoundingly better. Watching the other teen have to struggle with the weight of his bag reminded him that Hakuba was just as clumsy as everyone else sometimes.

Not that he could be as humiliated, but Heiji didn't have a reason to try, yet.

He did, however, move out of the way and offer to help Hakuba in through the window.

Hakuba was a bit surprised of the hand that appeared in front of his eyes, but ei, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. He took his hand with a rare smile and soon was sitting on the window ledge next to Hattori.

"Thanks." The boy murmured, being sure that either of the box or the computer were going to fall down by accident. "Why so secretive? I'm your little dirty secret now or is that you mother is worse than mine? because I seriously doubt about the last one."

"Shut up before I push ya back down." He snarled lightly, face turning red. "Ya didn't see how excited she was when Kuroba first stepped into th' house. With th' way she acted, ye'd think I had no friends."

He paused a moment, quiet. "Don't comment on that." Heiji muttered, fully aware of how few people he actually got along with.

Moving back off the window, he returned to his computer chair and swung around, wordlessly inviting Hakuba in.

"Don't complain about that." Hakuba tried to sound nonchalant but a bit of resentment was coloring his voice. "She's happy for you at least."

Hakuba watched him sat on the chair, but he didn't move from the window.

"Ey, the present is really for you, you know." Hakuba throw him the box, hoping that he will catch her easily.

If he wouldn't, it will not matter much, really. The present was in fact Hattori's cap, the one he asked Kid to steal for him as compensation for not getting in the middle of the Osaka heist. it was not goign to break if he fell or anything.

Heiji caught the box, mentally kicking himself for continuing that topic. Hakuba brought it up, but how his mom acted obviously bothered him.

He busied himself with looking over the box in order to keep himself from apologizing.

Of course, the urge to be nice faded when he unveiled what was IN the box.

Ha ha. It was a conspiracy all along. He should have known. "Aww, for me? You shouldn't've." He crooned sarcastically, putting a hand against his chest as if surprised. Hakuba followed through with showing up; Heiji was not going to be the one that backed down.

Hakuba stood up and come near the other boy. He will stop annoying Hattori the day Heiji stop being so much fun to annoy. The face of the boy when he opened the box was priceless, but he cover it well the next second.

"I know I shouldn't." Hakuba took the cap from Heiji's hand and put it on the boy's head. "You look better without it."

Though he knew it was just teasing, he still couldn't help the redness that went across his face. He turned the bill of his hat backwards and looked up at Hakuba. "Well I guess everytime we meet I should leave it at home then."

Hakuba just looked down at him and grinned "Oh, you will do that for me? I'm touched."

"Oh I'd do almost anything for you." Heiji grinned back.

Hakuba was a bit impressed, Heiji was following the drift quite well. In others occasions, he was already yelling at him by this point. Time to see how far he will go.

"Almost anything uh?" The blonde detective bend do so he was looking at Heiji eye level, their faces close.

Heiji almost sat back further to put some distance between them, but managed to resist. He tilted his head slightly. "All's you have to do is ask."

At that comment, Hakuba narrowed his eyes and grinned even more, like a pleased cat.

Heiji paled slightly, tilting his chin up defiantly.

Even if Heiji was obstinate, Hakuba noticed how he paled and decided to have compassion of him. For now.

"I will keep that in mind for another occasion." Saguru said in a soft voice as he incorporated.

"You wold scream too much now and your family is on the house." he ended, sounding more like his usual arrogant self.

Heiji frowned, not quite sure how but realizing he must have taken a step back somewhere. "I wouldn't scream!" He denied automatically, not even knowing what he was denying about.

It was a fact of life for Hakuba that Heiji never know how to have his mouth shut when he should.

"You don't?" He bend down again, this time both of his hands were resting on every side of Hattori's chair.

Heiji was too stubborn and annoyed now to even realize that he probably should have taken the out while he could.

"I'm not a girl. Why would I scream?"

"Girls doesn't scream when you kiss them, you don't know that? But you will probably once is done."

Wot? The only thing that showed Heiji was affected by that comment was the slight raise of his eyebrow.

"Ya couldn't make me scream if yer life depended on it."

He couldn't help but smile, just a little, at the idea that come to his mind. He wondered if that was how Tyki feels when he plays. Leaning closer to Heiji, he purred.

"Then close your eyes and think of Kudo."

Hakuba was close enough now that Heiji could feel his breath.

"I-I ain't gonna think of Kudo!" He argued automatically, even though he closed his eyes.

"Toyamaza-zan then? Or do you're really going to think about me?" His voice was still in that low, flirtatious tone.

It started with another of their games that when out of control, Hakuba mused. But since both don't really like each other on the least, and he already had a girlfriend that he loved, this doesn't mean anything at all. Hakuba was telling that to himself when he leaned closer again, as if to meet a challenge, and kissed Heiji gently, teasingly.

Heiji's eyes shot open and he tried protesting again, "I ain't-" but the kiss stopped him short.

He'd never kissed before, not counting the usual child's innocence or family kisses, so he didn't really have anything to compare it to. He sat tense, mentally flailing out for something to do.

However he was quite certain that this wasn't what he'd have expected from the other teen if he had thought about it. Demanding and controlling? Yeah. Gentle? Hell no.

Okay so maybe if he had no opinion of Hakuba at all it might have crossed his mind. Once or twice. The other detective did look like the type to keep lots of fluffy animals. All those light colors on him. But knowing his personality he'd have expected a kiss from him to be a bit more...painful to sit through? Or exciting at least...

...not that he'd thought about it. At all.

All this ran through his mind in those few seconds as he wondered what the hell he should even do. A guy he didn't like at all was kissing him because of what basically amounted to a dare. Was there an owner's manual or a help guide for situations like this?

Eyes closed as well, Hakuba pondered about Heiji's reaction. He was rigid like a table, even if he tried to be careful with him to not scare the other boy with the kind of kisses he and Akako share, but at the same time Heiji wasn't pushing him away.

"So?" He asked softly when they broke apart, smiling slightly as he waited for his response,face still close to him.

His mind was still going over thousands of thoughts at once, so indecisive and fast that his face couldn't even begin to register. He would have looked slightly dazed if it weren't for the hesitant indecision still apparent in his body.

He blinked twice to try and regain his composure and said the first thought he could grab. Which, embarrassingly enough, was one of the more stubborn thoughts. "That was it?" He asked, voice too low for his normal attitude to show through.

His mind didn't slow down at all though and he was still wondering what a guy could do in a situation like this that didn't get him humiliated or killed.
